Julie’s yoga journey started when she was confronted by serious mental health issues. In her first yoga class, 25 years ago, she learnt not to compare herself with anyone else, and the accept herself, for who she was and where she was at. These life lessons proved invaluable, and ultimately life-changing.

Julie spent 7 years apprenticing with an experience yoga teacher in Balmain, in both the Ashtanga and Krishnamacharya / Desikachar traditions, and completing the 3-year Diploma of Health (Yoga) at Naturecare College in Sydney. She then went to to become part of the Naturecare faculty, along with completing a Diploma of Holistic Counselling.

Julie teaches an eclectic mix of Hatha Yoga. Her emphasis is on moving with the breath and allowing the breath to create the movement; inviting students to challenge their comfort zones while always respecting where they are at, on any given day. Her classes are classical in design, and her intention is to strike a balance between attention to what Eckhart Tolle calls the ‘form’ of their bodies (including heart and mind), and connection with the ‘formless’ - their essential nature - in a supported environment of present moment awareness. “I hope students’ leave my class feeling replenished in both body and Spirit, emanating more Light, Love and feeling connected to the essential JOY of all that it.”

Julie specialises in Over 60s yoga at Alma. Attend one of her classes and you can expect nurturing, caring, compassion, and joy, in a supportive, and safe environment with clear communication.
